It is created from a blend of refined olive oil and EVOO or VOO and is usually darker in color compared to light olive oil.
  3. Olive-pomace oils are the most refined and affordable grade. Pomace is the solid residue leftover from the production of olive oil. It is then treated with chemical solvents, often hexane, and exposed to extremely high temperatures to extract oil. It is usually combined with other oils like soybean, corn, and sunflower to add a bit of flavor. This is the cheapest among all the types and also has the least benefits.

Say, for example, you bought one that’s in light-colored/transparent plastic packaging from the grocery—this has already been sitting in the store for quite some time, under LED light. Again, olive oil is heat and light-sensitive, so chances are that the antioxidant properties are not as high anymore.
