d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum is a face mist toner that claims strong moisturizing power with its proprietary ingredient, Trufferol™. It also features a d’Alba-exclusive scent created in collaboration with an Italian perfumer. While many users say the mist is fine, hydrating, and non-sticky, others feel the moisture is lacking or prefer a lighter scent, making the decision to purchase difficult.
To evaluate its performance, we reviewed the product based on six points:
Moisturizing Power
Makeup Smudge Resistance
Scent
Portability
Ease of Application
Non-Sticky Feel
We also compared it with popular face mist toners from brands such as Shiseido and Curel. Based on our testing, we’ll clearly explain its strengths and drawbacks to help you choose the right face mist toner.

d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum is a good choice for those who value fragrance in their skincare. Testers rated the scent highly, with comments such as “the sweet fragrance lifts my mood.” It has a calm, jasmine-like freshness and feels more subtle than products with a sharp or overpowering scent.
Beyond fragrance, its moisturizing performance is strong. Two hours after application on the arm, moisture levels increased by an average of 72.64%. Some compared products showed an average increase of only 29.4%, making this mist suitable for people concerned about dryness.
When used over makeup, most testers found that it didn’t noticeably cause makeup to break down. One comment noted that “even after spraying, the eyeshadow and eyelashes didn’t smudge.” The compact size (3.5 cm wide × 15 cm tall) and light weight of 147 g also make it easy to carry for touch-ups on the go.
In addition, when beads were pressed onto artificial skin after application, 13 out of 20 adhered, suggesting noticeable stickiness. This may not suit those looking for a mist with very little stickiness. If this doesn’t bother you, this product stands out for its fragrance and high moisturizing power and is worth considering.
A face mist toner is a skincare product meant to hydrate the skin, not a makeup setting spray designed to lock makeup in place. Its main appeal is how easy it is to use. You can spray it over makeup when you’re out or apply it quickly after a shower for instant moisture.
d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum is formulated with Trufferol™, a proprietary ingredient that combines Italian white truffle (Tuber magnatum extract), a premium ingredient, and tocopherol. It is designed to deliver moisture to the outer layer of the skin and help care for skin firmness.
Its aromatic, citrus floral scent was created in collaboration with an Italian perfumer and is exclusive to d’Alba. The product is also certified vegan by Italy’s V-LABEL and has undergone an official skin irritation test by a certified testing institution.

When compared with other face mist toners, d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum stood out in four areas.
We applied a fixed amount of d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum to the arm and measured moisture levels after two hours. The result showed an average increase of 72.64% in skin moisture, making it a strong option for people concerned about dryness or those who prioritize hydration when choosing a face mist toner.
Using the same method, we also tested other face mist toners. Some showed an average increase of only 29.4% in moisture. Compared with those products, this mist is a more suitable option for even people with dry-prone skin.
When we compared whether each product could fit into a small pouch without feeling heavy, this one stood out for its compact size of 3.5 cm wide × 15 cm tall and its light weight of 147 g. It’s easy to slip into a pouch and carry around, whether you’re out for the day or traveling.
By comparison, one of the products we tested, Curel Deep Moisture Spray, weighed 299 g, nearly twice as much as this one. If you want a mist toner that’s easy to carry and use for quick hydration on the go, choosing something compact and lightweight makes a clear difference.
When 11 female testers in their 20s to 40s who regularly use face mist toners evaluated the scent, the sweet, elegant, perfume-like fragrance received high marks. Many positive comments stood out, such as “the sweet scent lifts my mood” and “it has a light, citrus-like sweetness that’s easy to use.”
Because the fragrance is gentle, it feels suitable for everyday use. Some testers also appreciated its fresh, floral character, with comments like “I like the slightly floral and elegant, jasmine-like scent.”
A few testers noted a slightly medicinal impression. However, among the products we compared, some had sharper or pungent scents that stood out more. In contrast, this mist’s fragrance is not overpowering, making it less likely to be distracting during use.
Tester Comments on the Scent:
“The scent is light and not too strong, but depending on the person, it might feel unique or slightly noticeable.” (Female, 20s)
“The fragrance wasn’t too strong and felt just right. The sweet scent made me feel very uplifted, and I liked it enough to want to keep using it.” (Female, 30s)
“You can smell it, but it’s not overpowering. It has a refreshing, lightly sweet citrus-like scent that I enjoyed.” (Female, 30s)
“It has a natural, organic scent that isn’t too strong, which I liked. The fragrance feels natural and pleasant, so I’d like to continue using it.” (Female, 40s)
When five female testers in their 20s to 40s who regularly use face mist toners evaluated how well it resisted makeup breakdown, both foundation and eye makeup showed little visible smudging. Our tests show it is suitable for those who want to hydrate their skin even after applying makeup.
Most testers commented that any smudging or creasing of foundation and eye makeup was “not noticeable.” One tester noted, “I use liquid foundation, and I didn’t notice any smudging caused by the mist.”
Tests with eye makeup also resulted in positive feedback. Comments included, “Even after spraying the mist, my eyeshadow didn’t smudge, and my eyelashes didn’t run, so it felt good to use.”
By comparison, some other products tested showed noticeable makeup breakdown. In contrast, this mist made it easier to hydrate the skin while keeping eyeshadow and mascara largely intact.
Tester Comments on Makeup Smudging:
“There was slight smudging of the foundation, but not enough to be a concern. I think it’s fine for touch-ups.” (Female, 20s)
“I use liquid foundation, and I didn’t notice any smudging from the mist. The fine spray dried quickly without forming droplets, so my makeup didn’t break down.” (Female, 30s)
“I only applied long-lasting liquid foundation, and there was no smudging.” (Female, 40s)
“My eyeshadow didn’t smudge or break down after spraying, and the shimmer stayed in place. However, my eyebrow color faded slightly.” (Female, 20s)
d’Alba White Truffle First Spray Serum offers strong hydration and good portability, but it isn’t without a potential drawback.
When the mist toner was applied to artificial skin and 20 beads were pressed onto the surface, 13 beads adhered. This suggests a noticeable level of stickiness, which may not suit people who dislike tacky-feeling skincare.
We compared this result with other products using the same method. One mist toner showed only 9 beads sticking, indicating a less sticky finish. Compared with that, this product tends to feel stickier after application.
However, if moisturization is your main goal, then the stickiness should not really be an issue.
