One drawback is that a ducted range hood is more complicated to install. To function, the vent needs to pass through an opening on your ceiling and roof. However, this range hood duct is advisable if you frequently cook at home or in commercial kitchens.

A ductless range hood filters out the smoke and fumes it draws in and then recirculates the air to your kitchen. It uses a carbon filter to remove odor and air pollutants.
