NARS Light Reflecting Foundation Review for the Philippines: Pros and Cons After Testing

When testers checked their skin eight hours after application, more than half rated the foundation highly for its staying power. Many commented that it did not break down from dryness, while others noted that it held up well even on warm days without creasing or separating. Overall, testers appreciated that it resisted both dryness and oil.

Among the radiant-finish foundations we compared, many looked oily over time. In contrast, NARS Light Reflecting Foundation did not receive reports of major oil-related breakdown. It appears capable of maintaining a polished finish even in the humidest months of summer and the rainy season.

Based on our measurements, the number of visible pores decreased by 57%, while noticeable blemishes decreased by 26%. Overall, the foundation provides moderate coverage.

For blemish coverage, the result fell well below the 40% benchmark we use for high-performing products. Even CHANEL Ultra Le Teint Fluide, one of the higher-rated foundations we compared, only reduced blemishes by 33%. If you want a more even-looking complexion, you may need to use a concealer together with the foundation.

Pore coverage was similar in performance. Because the formula applies in a thin layer and focuses on a natural finish, it is better suited for those who prefer a skin-like look rather than strong coverage.

As some online reviews mention, the foundation creates a natural-looking, radiant complexion. In our test, three out of five testers said the finish did not look heavy on the skin. This result supports the brand’s claim of delivering a skin-like, natural finish that lets the skin show through. Among the products we compared, many radiant-type foundations tended to look lighter on the skin, and this one was no exception, making it less likely to appear thick or overly made up.

However, a few testers noted that the finish can vary depending on skin type. Some reported slight dryness, which may affect how smooth the foundation looks on the skin. If your skin tends to feel dry when using foundation, pairing it with a highly moisturizing makeup primer may help improve the finish.

When testers tried the texture, the overall experience was generally positive. The formula has a lightweight, fluid consistency, and all five testers commented that it spreads easily across the skin. Compared with some products in our test that felt harder to spread or dragged on the skin, this foundation can be applied quickly and smoothly.

A small number of testers did mention that it did not blend into the skin as easily as expected. If you want to improve how well it adheres to the skin, using it together with a primer from the same brand may help.

Several testers noted that the pump can be quite firm, making it difficult to control how much product comes out.  With this bottle, it may take a bit of practice to dispense the right amount smoothly.

1. “The bottle is a good size and should fit in a larger makeup pouch. The matte cap is easy to grip and remove. However, the product sometimes comes out quickly, which could stain clothes if you’re not careful.”

Among the products we compared, some with stronger fragrances received mixed reactions depending on personal preference. In contrast, this formula may be a better choice for those who prefer makeup without added fragrance.
