Xiaomi 14T Review for the Philippines: Pros and Cons After Testing

The Xiaomi 14T delivers high performance, enabling you to handle everyday tasks such as social media browsing and video streaming smoothly. In the AnTuTu benchmark test, it scored 1,310,766 points. This is well above the 700,000-point benchmark typically considered sufficient for comfortable 3D gaming.

Among the midrange models we tested, it ranked at the top level and delivered results comparable to some high-end smartphones priced much higher. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra SoC, paired with the Arm Mali-G615 MC6 GPU for graphics processing. If you’re looking for a high-performance smartphone that can handle gaming without lag, the Xiaomi 14T is a strong contender.

Another key strength is its effective heat management. After running a stress-testing app for 15 minutes, the device’s temperature measured 41.1°C. In comparison, the higher-end model in the same series, the Xiaomi 14T Pro, reached 49.3°C under the same conditions.

This shows that the Xiaomi 14T manages heat effectively. Even during extended use, the device is unlikely to feel uncomfortably hot in your hand.

The Xiaomi 14T offers impressive camera performance, especially when shooting outdoors during the day. All 10 testers praised the photo quality, describing the colors as vibrant and well-balanced both indoors and outdoors. Many noted how buildings and skies appeared clear and beautifully rendered.

There were no noticeable distortions on surfaces such as building walls, and the sky's gradient was reproduced naturally with accurate color tones. Despite being a midrange smartphone, its color performance was comparable to that of the high-end models we tested. Based on our results, concerns that “photos look slightly dark” were not evident.

Image resolution is extremely high, capturing fine details with impressive clarity. Many of the testers gave positive feedback, noting that “surface textures and subtle details are reproduced realistically” and that “there are no noticeably blurry areas.”

In many of the midrange models we tested, images tended to look grainy or soft when zoomed in. With the Xiaomi 14T, however, several testers commented that “even when enlarged, fine details were still clearly visible.” All 10 testers rated its level of detail highly. The approximately 50MP Leica co-engineered camera demonstrated strong imaging performance.

The front camera also produces flattering selfies. Some of the other models we tested struggled to accurately reproduce natural redness in the cheeks and lips, but the Xiaomi 14T maintained a healthy, natural-looking skin tone. Testers described the results as having a “porcelain-like skin tone” and noted that the camera “preserves the subject’s natural complexion while blending softly with bright daylight.”

In portrait mode, the subject and even foreground elements like nearby leaves were sharply in focus, while the background had a blur effect. However, the depth-of-field effect was slightly more subtle compared to the higher-end models we tested. Some testers described the blur as “natural” and felt the subject looked clear and well-captured, but more than half noted that the background separation could have been stronger.

Several testers commented that “the leaves in the foreground stand out more than the subject” and that “a stronger background blur would help the subject stand out more.” As a result, opinions on the portrait mode were mixed. If you prefer a dramatic, DSLR-style bokeh effect, this camera mode may feel slightly understated.

Zoomed-in photos appear vibrant and highly detailed. All 10 testers responded positively, with comments such as “well-balanced colors and sharp details, with no complaints” and “it doesn’t even look like it was taken using zoom.”

Many of the midrange models we tested lacked a dedicated telephoto lens. In contrast, the Xiaomi 14T features a 50MP telephoto camera, enabling clearer, more detailed zoom shots. If you frequently take zoomed photos, this is a strong advantage.

Noise, which is often an issue in night photography, was barely noticeable. Testers commented that “the subject looks sharp and easy to see” and that “even when zoomed in, text on buildings remains clear.” None of the testers pointed out noticeable noise. Overall, it produces night photos that look close to what you see with the naked eye.

Video quality is impressive, especially thanks to its strong image stabilization. All 10 testers who reviewed the footage commented that “camera shake is naturally corrected” and that “vertical movement is well-controlled, making the video easy to watch.” While some of the entry-level models we tested showed noticeable shake throughout recording, the Xiaomi 14T captured smoother and more stable footage.

Resolution is also high, with very little visible grain or softness. Some testers mentioned that distant buildings appeared slightly less defined, but nearby structures showed fine details clearly. Comments such as “edges look sharp on both buildings and backgrounds” reflect an overall strong impression.

Tester Comments on Stabilization and Resolution:

1. “It handled vertical and horizontal shake almost perfectly. I didn’t feel any noticeable shake, and the correction looked natural rather than forced.”

2. “Even when tracking a moving subject or panning the camera, shake was well-controlled. I didn’t feel any motion discomfort.”

3. “Resolution is very high, and the quality feels satisfying overall. Distant buildings looked slightly soft.”

4. “Background blur wasn’t noticeable, and details looked sharp. While not quite as crisp as photos, the video quality is more than satisfactory.”

None of the testers reported any noticeable issues with video color. The overall tones looked natural, though several testers described the colors as slightly muted or soft rather than vibrant. Still, unlike some competing models that produced a bluish or yellowish tint, this device maintained neutral and well-balanced colors without any obvious color cast.

In bright daytime scenes, highlights such as direct sunlight were occasionally slightly overexposed. At night, certain light sources also appeared mildly blown out. Even so, the scene's overall mood remained intact. Testers noted that dark areas retained detail and that, although highlights were a bit emphasized, the balance between light and shadow didn’t feel unnatural. Whether recording during the day or at night, indoors or outdoors, it consistently delivered clean and visually pleasing video.

Tester Comments on Color and Contrast:

1. “Stronger color saturation might have highlighted subtle differences in building tones more clearly. Still, buildings and cityscapes looked natural overall.”

2. “Colors appear slightly muted. The sky doesn’t look overly blue, and buildings seem somewhat soft in tone. However, differences in sky color were still visible.”

3. “Both bright areas, like city lights, and darker areas, such as trees behind the lights, were captured clearly. It doesn’t distort the real-life scene.”

4. “In daytime videos, the contrast between bright and dark areas is clear and well-balanced. In night videos, brightness is slightly emphasized, making the contrast lean toward the brighter side.”

Battery performance is solid, allowing you to use the phone throughout the day without constantly worrying about running out of power. In our PCMark battery test, which simulates real-world usage, it took 15 hours and 49 minutes for the battery to drop from 100% to 20%. Nearly half of the models we tested lasted under 15 hours, suggesting that concerns about “fast battery drain” are not supported by our results.

It also supports 67W fast charging, which is a welcome feature. After charging for 30 minutes, the battery reached 50%. Compared to many of the other devices we tested, which recovered between 29% and 50% in the same time frame, this is a competitive charging speed. Even if you forget to charge overnight, a short top-up before heading out should be enough to get you through the day.

Display quality is on par with the higher-end Xiaomi 14T Pro, offering excellent overall performance. It features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a sharp pixel density of 446 ppi. With a peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits, it stands out among the models we tested, most of which had brightness levels below 3,000 nits. This makes the screen easier to see even under direct sunlight outdoors.

The refresh rate reaches up to 144Hz, delivering smooth motion on screen. Most of the high-end and midrange models we compared topped out at 120Hz or lower. As a result, scrolling feels fluid, and browsing websites or social media is comfortable without noticeable stutter.

It also comes equipped with practical features that make it convenient for daily use. The device supports FeliCa for contactless payments, allowing compatibility with services such as mobile transit cards and electronic payment platforms. Some other Xiaomi models we tested did not include this feature. It also supports dual SIM via eSIM, making it easy to manage separate numbers for work and personal use.

Durability is another strong point. The phone is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, reducing the risk of damage from brief water exposure, sweat, or rain. However, the official OS update support period has not been clearly stated. Based on the brand’s previous update patterns, it may receive updates for around three to four years. Those planning to use the device long term should keep this in mind.

Availability may vary depending on the retailer. While the Xiaomi 14T is sold through official Xiaomi stores and major online platforms, stock levels and color options can differ across sellers.
