Michelle's 10 Self-Care Products and Services Discovered During Quarantine

Self-care has radically shifted for mommas like Michelle (@mommanmanila) during the time of quarantining and COVID-19. These extreme circumstances have forced many of us to be stuck at home doing DIYs, but even if we cannot venture out as much as we used to, occasional splurges for ourselves and some pampering is a nice little treat to lift the spirits up.

Down below, Michelle listed some self-care products that she discovered and fell in love with during quarantine. She also included some services that she enjoyed getting because of the establishment's observation of strict safety protocols.

    Day Dream

Nothing says self-care for me more than a dimly lit room with a quiet scented candle. My favorite scent from this mindful brand created by a young entrepreneur is Day Dream.

Besides being a brand that I would support because it is proudly Filipino and the candles are hand-poured in Batangas, this up and coming soy candle maker is woke in her packaging, mindful in her branding, and makes sure that she is delivering the best quality soy candle that is sustainable at an affordable price.
  • The Bloc by Junie Sierra & Co
    Argila Amazonia Straightening Services

    Michelle Aventajado

The Bloc has amazing protocols in place that allow me to feel confident and relaxed while enjoying an all-natural Argila Amazonia hair treatment that hails from Brazil.

Visiting this salon for the first time just last month, I realized just how safe the protocols are that The Bloc has in place for salon treatments! From contact tracing to individual stations marked with your name and photo, and a calm, clean, bright, and relaxing space, The Bloc welcomed me (and my straggly hair!) after more than a year of not addressing my color faded mane!

The Argila Amazonia hair treatment was a delicious way to ensure wash and wear hair for a busy mom like me. No more flat ironing necessary and this all-natural treatment is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mommas lasts for 3 months.
  • Burt's Bees
    Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

    Michelle Aventajado

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream has been my favorite drugstore find since I was a young mom. Who says I have to have dishpan hands and nails just because I'm cooking that much more?

Using my favorite hand lotions and plant-based polish may not be as nice as sitting in the chair and having someone do it for me, but this certainly is the next best thing! This product moisturizes and nourishes the cuticles and it also strengthens the nails. It's a nice little treatment to use at night or when you don't have a day full of chores!
  • Cosrx
    Acne Pimple Master Patch

    Michelle Aventajado

Learning to find different ways to care for my skin during a pandemic has been nothing short of challenging. But sourcing my beauty needs online has been the best and easiest way to address my skin issues, without risking infection.

My weekly treatments at the dermatologist have all become far and few in between, and since I cannot visit Doc Yanee from the Aesthetic Science Clinic when I want to, these quick fixes with the COSRX pimple patches can clear up my bouts with adult acne painlessly.

    Health Aid Bifina S30

Health is certainly wealthーthat is one thing we have all realized because of the pandemic. Even if we eat healthily, sometimes, we cannot get everything we need from our food intake, so supplements, probiotics, and vitamins and minerals are a good addition to boost our health more.

The supplements I need are easily accessible and are all in one place when I shop through wenourish.ph. I usually go for Health Aid Bifina S30, a probiotic supplement that provides good bacteria to the stomach, improving gut health.

Another favorite of mine is the Herbilogy Pomegranate Peel Extract Powder, which is really good for the skin. It is free from added sugar, dye, MSG, preservatives, flavorings, and other chemicals. You just add this to water or your drink of choice and, voila, added health benefit is guaranteed!
  • Centro Holistico
    Acupuncture

    Michelle Aventajado

When I was a yoga teacher, I would teach my students we are all connected. Self-care and health care go hand in hand. This is why addressing my skin, diet, and digestive issues can all be done through acupuncture for a more holistic approach.

I have been going to Centro Holistico to get acupuncture done since November and with regular visits, I noticed the many benefits it has brought to my health and wellness. I feel less stressed, I get less headaches and migraines, my mental clarity is enhanced, and I also get better sleep.
  • Verses
    Classic Tee

    Michelle Aventajado

The year 2020 has brought many tremendous changes to all of us. It has challenged many people physically, emotionally, and mentally, ultimately affecting everyone's well-being.

Although this t-shirt may look plain and simple, for me, it has a huge meaning or value and it is so much more than just a t-shirt. Wearing my life verse helps to remind me that God is in control, that He has a plan for me. And that when I remember to be thankful and joyful in all that I do, I am on the right path.
  • Thrive & Co
    Coconut Yogurt

    Michelle Aventajado

Gut health when you cannot have dairy? Coconut yogurt is not only delicious but also has the tremendous health benefits that your dairy yogurt brings, plus more.

As someone who has a leaky gut and cannot partake of dairy on a regular basis, finding delicious alternatives online has been a blessing. From following fellow foodies, I was able to discover Thrive Coconut Yogurt that has all the benefits of yogurt without making my tummy suffer.

There are two flavors availableーclassic coconut and mango, and these are made weekly to guarantee freshness and delicious taste.
  • Feminism
    Silk Shortsleeve Shorts

Silky, satiny, comfy, set of jammies and loungewear are comforting and can uplift your mood or spirits, especially now that there's really nowhere to go. These are a great way to still look cute--even if your frequent trips are just from your bed to the kitchen!

Wearing a nice set of pajamas is a wonderful way to set the tone for the rest you will enjoy for the evening. Settling in for the evening in pj's that feel good and look good helps us forget that sometimes, all we have done is change from nighttime jammies to daytime jammies during this period of quarantine.
  • Zenutrients
Stress Relief Regular Blend Massage Oil

    Michelle Aventajado

COVID-19 and face-to-face contact has limited the amount of massages, manicures, and other services Nino and I would enjoy outside the home. Because of this, I thought of getting a massage oil to take up pampering at home a notch.

This massage oil from Zenutrients is all-natural and uses coconut oil as its base, and also includes a blend of grapefruit and verbenas. The scent is very relaxing and, at the same time, restorative and refreshing!

I also like that it is affordable, organic, and a proudly Pinoy brand. Zenutrients products are a consistent purchase for both my daughter and me!
